VCF Statement of Faith
Section 1. SOLA SCRIPTURA;
The Holy Scriptures including the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, being inspired by God, are the only infallible rule of faith and practice, and shall be the supreme source of authority for Village Christian Fellowship in all matters of faith and practice. (John 1:1-2; 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 22:18-19)
Section 2 STATED BELIEFS;
In framing the following Statement of Faith we have carefully reviewed Scripture, the traditional Church creeds and teachings of the Protestant Reformation:
(1) Beliefs Concerning God and His Word: We believe that there is One God who exists forever in Three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is a Spirit, completely self-sufficient and infinite in being, honor, happiness and perfection. He is eternal, unchangeable, incomprehensible, everywhere present, all-powerful, knowing all things, wise, holy, just, merciful and gracious, long-suffering and abundant in goodness and truth.
We believe that God is the Sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things visible and invisible. He authored the redemption of the Church. We believe that God has revealed Himself to humanity through the Bible – His completed Word and without error in the original writings. The scripture is given by inspiration of God and is the only rule for faith and life.
